The patent court-like spell binding shoes, which are handmade at Louboutin’s Paris atelier, feature mesh panels with sculpted heels that looks like tendrils of smoke and of course, the French designer’s iconic red sole. Nicknamed the Malangeli (‘Maleficent’ plus ‘Angelina,’ get it?), the shoes were inspired by Jolie’s character in the film, a black-sporting fairy who calls herself the Mistress of All Evil. The limited-edition shoe design is described as “dangerous and altogether seductive” with “an illusion of magic” thanks to the nude mesh.
When asked Louboutin how he felt about this collaboration, he mentions “It is exciting to work with someone who has such a strong aesthetic and character. Getting to know Angelina through a fun collaboration has been one of my greatest pleasures!!!”. He clearly seems bewitched by the gorgeous Jolie!
Christian Louboutin has revealed that red or black patent versions are the only styles available to the public and will be sold on a made-to-order basis only. The shoes will be available to pre-order from four boutiques worldwide at a price of $1,495 with the profits going to SOS Children’s Villages, the world’s largest organisation dedicated to orphaned and abandoned children which has been supported by mother-of-six Jolie since 2003.
