Yay or Nay? Halal Nail Polish Now Available!

According to Ahlan! Magazine, a company called BCI Group has unveiled an officially certified nail polish called ‘H’ which stands for “Halal”. With Ramadan 2014 around the corner, nail polish enthusiast are apparently stocking up!

H by BCI has been certified by the Al Iman Islamic Society and comes in six colors, including red and gold.

So how is this Halal nail polish any different from the regular stuff? Regular nail polish does not allow water to reach the skin, which is why women are required to take it off before praying. However, the Halal nail polish allows water to penetrate to the nails, hence making it  “wudu-friendly.” It is also free of alcohol, fragrances, animal ingredients and is also not tested on animals.

The nail polish topic is a highly debatable one within the Muslim community, as some see it as not acceptable to wear at all, no matter how permeable.

Seeing that H by BCI is a local UAE certified product, perhaps it will have a better up-take in comparison to other competitors who have tried to market similar Halal nail polish.
